Horta Museum, Brussels

The fluid lines of the Art Nouveau style are exemplified in four late 19th century Brussels townhouses designed by Victor Horta. Horta's buildings are characterised by their open plan, the diffusion of light, and the brilliant joining of the curved lines of decoration with the structure of the building.

The fluid lines of the Art Nouveau style are exemplified in four late 19th century Brussels townhouses designed by Victor Horta. Horta's buildings are characterised by their open plan, the diffusion of light, and the brilliant joining of the curved lines of decoration with the structure of the building.

Horta's four most important townhouses were designated a World Heritage Site in 2000, a good example of the fact that buildings need not be ancient to qualify for World Heritage Status.
