News: Gardens and designed landscape of the World Heritage Site

Work to improve what was once part of the Bishop’s Garden at Durham Castle, now known as the Fellows’ Garden, is nearing completion.  This will be a new space available to visitors out of term time for events and performances such as the Durham Fringe Festival. On 17th September St John’s College is opening its Secret Gardens, formerly belonging to the Bowes’ family.  On 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th September at 1pm there are walking tours of the World Heritage Site starting from Palace Green Library and taking in the romantic designed landscape of the riverbanks.
