UNESCO Creative Cities – York City of Media Arts

Professor Chris Bailey, Visiting Professor, York Business School will bring to life some of the exciting activities and opportunities explored in York City of Media Arts

Chris is an experienced academic manager having worked for four decades in the vibrant UK art college, polytechnic and university sector. He has consistently forged winning partnerships with creative organisations that have benefited local economies, students and staff. Over the same period he has held numerous Trustee and Company Directorships in creative enterprises and Arts Council regularly funded organisations.

He is well acquainted with cultural policy frameworks having held many voluntary positions in the regional arts structure including a period as Chair of West Midlands Arts. He has conducted research and consultancy in culture led regeneration and skills development for Carlow County Council, Ireland, the government of Cyprus, the South African Department of Arts Culture Science and Technology, Johannesburg Development Agency, Newcastle and Gateshead Councils, the UK museums body Re:source, and the Dartington Hall Trust.
