About the artist

Victoria developed a fascination with threads and textures by learning to knit and crochet as a child. The passion extended into embroidery and surface stitching on fabric and rapidly became an obsession.

She has been a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild since 1995 when she was a founding member and first chairman of the Durham City branch, and has just completed five years as North East Regional Chairman.

Victoria has recently gone ‘back to basics’ as she was a winner in the BRILLIANT competition for local artists to submit proposals for Durham Lumiere Festival in November 2015. Her ‘Big Knitting’ was seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors during the four days it was on show.

Victoria is a member of Interface Arts, a network for artists and craftspeople in
County Durham and surrounding areas. Interface Arts is open to everyone for whom creativity forms a significant part of their lives, and aim to promote creativity in all media.
