Lawrence of Arabia, Moral Treachery and World War One

Lecture by the Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett, Dean of Durham. This lecture is hosted by the Friends of the Oriental Museum, as part of the 2018/19 series.

The mercurial, intriguing and tragic figure of T. E. Lawrence offers an insight into the other great front of World War One, the one in the Middle East. British foreign policy in that period profoundly influenced and shaped the future of the region in ways which resonate to the current day. Moral treachery – not just a question for the individual but also for the nation state.

This lecture is open to all. Lectures are free to Friends. For visitors the cost is £3 (£1 concession).
