Events Diary

The World Heritage Site is a hive of activity, with many concerts, plays, talks and other events. What will you find of interest?

The events shown are taking place on or around Durham World Heritage Site. If you are organising an event, please tell us about it.

Diwali - special late night opening

This November come and celebrate the much loved Hindu festival of Diwali at the Oriental Museum!

Visitors can enjoy a spectacular shadow puppet show, traditional puja prayers to the goddess Lakshmi, food tasting, games, dancing and much more.

The Museum will be decorated in spectacular style with diyas, flowers and lanterns made by the community, and the first 100 children will receive a free flower garland.
